A 52-year-old man was caught for attempting to eat his landlady's pet dog.
The man, identified as Park, took the pet Chihuahua into his room, while his 69-year-old landlady Jeon was in the bathroom. He then killed the dog and attempted to cook it at the boarding house in Jongno, Seoul, Monday afternoon.
Park tried to scorch the dog before cooking it in his room, but his clothes in the room caught fire and emitted smoke. His neighbors called the firefighters and his attempt to cook the dog was detected by neighbors and firefighters, according to police.
Police quoted Park, drunk when apprehended, as saying, ``I did so because I was hungry.''
He was booked without physical detention on charges of theft.

I worked at my dad's store last week on Valentines Day and pretty much whenever I work there, my faith in humanity takes a huge hit. Don't get me wrong, I never would have gotten tennis lessons in high school if it weren't for all the morons who come into that store, but man, they make me really angry. Basically anyone who walks into the store and goes directly to the counter is a degenerate. They want one of two things: tobacco or lottery tickets. I can understand spending a couple bucks on the big jackpot drawings, but the people who play these 3 and 4 number things every night should all be shot. For example, they pick a number between 1 and 1000, a number is drawn that night and lets say they bet a dollar on a number, if it comes out, they win $500. Here's the problem, a lot of these people play $30-$40 a night on this drawing. Usually the max they will win is $500 and the odds of that happening are pretty damn slim. Even if they do get lucky a few times in a row, if you play those numbers everyday, you lose money. Not only are these people guaranteed to lose money, they also don't give a shit how many people are in line behind them. There could be 45 people lined up to the back of the store and this person will stand at the counter pulling numbers out of their ass or they will hand you a list of 100 numbers to play. In conclusion, I do not like these people.

Looking on the bright side, I find it pretty amazing I'm not clinically depressed. I've been waking up around 430pm everyday. I try to quickly run outside for 5 minutes just so my body can get a quick dose of natural light before it gets dark again. In winter, as always, my life revolves around just making it to the next season. Cause that's when everything will turn around and things will be great. At least that always seems like it will be the case. Really, I just need April 1st to get here soon. If I get into Columbia, I'll just hang around for a few more months, maybe travel a bit. If I don't get in, I'm buying a car the next day and getting off my ass. I should probably do that anyway now since it's still a while till April, but, hey, nobody has ever praised me for my great work ethic.
The happiest time of the week was when the Mets got Santana. It's always a bit sweeter when the Mets get something the Yankees really wanted. I've refused to wear my Mets cap since they shat the bed last year, but they came through, so I think I'll once again devote all of my love and energy to supporting them this year. I know they will let me down in the end, but hell, I need something to root for.

The State of the Union is such a joke. What can't those assholes just stay in their seats for an hour so we can get that douche off the TV screen and return to our regularly scheduled programming. We've been hearing about hope and freedom and liberty and democracy in Iraq for 5 years now. I think we should just ban those four words from the English language. They simply no longer have any meaning.
I understand the coverage of Heath Ledger's death. He was young, he was famous and people liked him. The media should cover the death, the cause, the aftermath and all that. But the scene outside his apartment on the day he died was just disgusting. Every news station was hanging out there as if something magical was about to pop out of the door. What they got instead, and what they wanted, was the live footage of Ledger's body being wheeled out of the apartment. Is that really what people wanted to see? Even if it was, how is it possible that there's no one heading up these TV stations that thinks for a second, "Hmm, this guy just died 3 hours ago. Let's show a little respect and back off from the scene." Sometimes it scares me thinking this is the kind of business I want to spend my life in.

Election thoughts
I could only stay away for so long. If by some great miracle I get into Columbia in April, it'd probably be a good idea for me to write some stuff. This will be very basic. No photos. All drivel, all the time.
Why are people giving Bill Clinton all this heat for campaigning for his wife? It's politics. It's a dirty game and you have fight and battle the entire way. The media jumps all over him whenever he opens his mouth. What do you expect him to do? Stand there on a stage with his hands in his pockets? Love him or hate him for the hummers he got under his desk, the guy got shit done as president and the country was in excellent shape under his watch. The smucks on TV make it sounds like a lot of people won't vote for Hillary because of Bill. Screw that, for me, the only reason I will vote for Hillary is because of Bill. You put Obama and Hillary next to each other, you take Obama, not because he has better ideas, but just because the guy doesn't piss as many people off. But when Bill Clinton comes as a package deal with Hillary, sign me up. Yeah, they are divisive. Sure, they haven't boned since 1980. But Bill Clinton is a political genius. He could look me in the eye and convince me to run myself over with a car within 30 seconds. He knows how to get stuff done and usually it's good stuff.
Now I like Obama and I think he could really uplift this country and change its dynamic in many ways. There's no doubt he would be an excellent president. It's just a bit too soon. If national security weren't an issue, I'm not that concerned about experience. Obama and Clinton will do pretty much the same things on the domestic side. But there's just something that scares me about putting Obama in charge of dealing with terrorism. You get the impression if America were attacked again, Obama would just get up on stage and speak of how the terrorists can change if we give them a chance. "Yes, they can!" A lot of Democrats like to pretend America will never have to drop another bomb, never kill innocent civilians again, if only a Democrat were president. That's pure B.S. Look, this country is going to be hit again. Maybe not this year, maybe not for another 10 years, but it will happen. A lot of of Americans are going to die, and this country will be forced to respond again. You don't have to be a reckless moron like Bush, but you also can't be a bunch of pussies. I'm just more comfortable with Hillary in office over Obama if that next attack happens during the next 4 years. By the way, is John Edwards retarded? Why do they show this guy on TV anymore?
I also hear people say that Obama has no shot in the general election because he's black. Just not true. The Republicans are crapping their pants at the prospect of facing Obama. He would crush all of the Republicans. Only two things would prevent this: America gets attacked and Republicans use their usual scare tactics to win votes or Bush catches bin laden. Catching bin laden would be great, but it would be pretty terrible for this country if it happens, in say, October 2008.
The great thing about being a Democrat this year is that even if the longshot occurs and a Republican is elected, none of the are that scary. The only one that resembles Bush and his "God speaks to me every morning and tells me what to do" garbage is Huckabee and thankfully, he's too crazy to win the nomination. None of the others are right-wing religious nutjobs and that's really a good thing. Giuliani is a prick. Romney is too polished. But neither of them will continue destroying the country. McCain is the best choice, simply because he doesn't give a f---. You just don't get the impression that this guy, at age 165, is going to be giving handouts to special interests or trying to please everyone. In a way, that's similar to Bush's attitude, except that when Bush doesn't give a f---, he takes a large metal pole and shoves it up America's collective ass. McCain is a little bit overly optimistic about turning Iraq into a Democratic paradise, but for the most part, he seems serious about cutting out a lot of the wasteful spending and B.S. in Washington. If it turns out McCain is the Republican nominee and he's the worst we're looking at next year, this country is headed in the right direction for the first time in a long time.
